7 Filthy Places You’re Forgetting To Clean

edit

When it comes to chores and cleaning the house, you pretty much have a list you do weekly, monthly, or yearly. But are some of these things missing?

Some of these spots you may be neglecting to clean could be the filthiest place in your home.

1. Underneath Furniture

If you were to look underneath your couch, bed, or loveseat right now, you may be in shock. Although the floor may be “covered” by your furniture, it does not save it from dust build-up.

Oftentimes while cleaning out these places, you will find coins, hair ties, toys, and other small items that you may have dropped or lost.

Try wiping underneath furniture down or using a handheld vacuum or duster.

2. Inside Cabinets and Drawers

When your cabinets and drawers are full of food, clothes, toiletries, or anything else, you may not think to clean the inside of them.

Underneath, inside, on the top, and outside cabinets and drawers can collect dust or be home to spider webs.

Try taking out the items in the cabinets and drawers and cleaning every nook and cranny.

3. Baseboards

Sweeping mopping or vacuuming may be a common chore, but when was the last time you wiped down your baseboards?

Dust can cling to baseboards and walls, so can spilled liquids or food.

To keep your basement clean, use a duster and/or wipe them down with a rag. While you’re doing that, maybe do the walls too, since dust could be stuck to them too.

4. Air Filters

When was the last time you changed your air filter? Air filters should be changed every 2-3 months.

You aren’t necessarily cleaning them, but replacing the dirty with a clean one.

In with the new and out with the old, can help your air conditioning system work more efficiently and help improve your indoor air quality.

5. Indoor Plants

Although some plants help with indoor air quality, they could use some cleaning of their own.

They can be attractants for dust, bacteria, and other pests. When they are dirty, it hinders their photosynthesis processes.

Try cleaning them at least once a month with a soft cloth and water, wiping the leaves gently.

6. Handles and Knobs

Handles and knobs on your fridge, stove, cabinets, and doors, are frequently touched by everyone in the household, including guests.

Wiping them down daily, weekly, or just after use is a great way to help prevent the spread of germs.

7. Bathroom Mats and Curtains

How often do you throw your bath mat or curtain in the washer?

Your curtain and mat often get wet while you shower or bathe. Leaving it damp is providing an environment for germs, other bacteria, or mold.

Try washing them at least once a month to help keep the space clean.
